Why The Miz Should Win at Wrestle Mania

The Miz and his rise have been well noted over the last few years. It all started with a sound bite on the once famous show ‘Talking Smack’ where he talked a little smack, pun intended, to Daniel Bryan calling him out and giving his best damn promo ever. The promo was so damn good that it is easily considered one of the best ever for any superstar (seriously). Not the actual best, but one of them.

That promo launched the Miz into a new direction that helped push him into greater heights. Suddenly people wanted to hear the Miz speak and they wanted to see him wrestle and they wanted to see him hold a title. All of this was new from the viewpoint of a fan. It was new for the Miz to witness too. He had people backing him and since that promo in August of 2016, The Miz has yet to look back.

Now we fast forward to present day Miz and he is edging closer and closer to becoming the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time. This would be an amazing accomplishment and his crowing achievement to this point.

And yes I realize that the Miz successfully defended the WWE Championship at Wrestle Mania 27 against John Cena but that wasn’t really about Miz — that was about the Rock and Cena. That was about Wrestle Mania 28. The Miz was just a piece of the puzzle that would soon be forgotten… and he was.

Forgotten no more is The Miz as he no longer wrestles in the shadow of anyone else. If anything he casts his on shadow that members of the Miztourage loom in. On top of that his match at Wrestle Mania this year, 34, is more marquee and more meaningful than his main even match at Wrestle Mania 27. Six years later he may not be in the main event, but now more than ever he is viewed as a main event talent. This idea of being a main event talent elevates him. He was not viewed this way at Wrestle Mania 27.

This is significant because the Intercontinental Title is one of great importance in WWE. The Miz has helped bring that importance back to the title and now it actually carries weight on the main card. At the previous years ‘Mania that IC title was defended on that pre-show (THE PRE-SHOW). The two years prior to that the IC title was defended in a fun ladder match but one that had about as much of a story-line tagged with it as the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

The point is that now I am interested. I remain interested and will stay interested in the title up to and through Wrestle Mania and you should too.

So why should The Miz retain the title at Wrestle Mania?

His two opponents in this Wrestle Mania triple threat match are Seth Rollins and Finn Balor. This means that we will see three former world champions going head-to-head-to-head in what is sure to be one of the best matches of the entire evening.

As the card continues to fill, and look great I might add, this is the match up that I am looking forward to the most. I mean we get Seth Rollins and Finn Balor in a match up with one of the best heels in all of WWE, The Miz. Rollins and Balor are easily considered two of the best wrestlers in the world and they continue to prove this every time they step foot in the ring. Think of Rollins and Balors recent successes as “Iron Man” cast wrestlers. Rollins was the standout performer in a gauntlet match where he pinned the likes of Roman Reigns and John Cena! Balor was the longest lasting performer in the Men’s Royal Rumble and truly stood out as one of the elite.

Both men are fantastic candidates to become Intercontinental Champion and hold that title to a high standard just as the Miz has. If things were to go my way I would want Rollins to become champion simply because he is my favorite wrestler. I am sure many feel that same way about Balor too but it is just not meant to be.

For once in Miz’ “illustrious” career this will be his moment to truly shine. And yes, for crying out loud, I know he beat John Cena at Wrestle Mania in the main event for the WWE championship but it is irrelevant because guess what, the Miz was not made to look strong in that match and he didn’t. Cena looked strong and the Rock looked even stronger.

The Miz is on the verge of becoming the “greatest Intercontinental Champion” off all-time in terms of days held. If he is actually considered that will be debatable by the masses, I am sure of that. But on his path to greatness what win could possibly be bigger than beating the likes of Finn Balor and Seth Rollins? Internet darlings, indie scene heroes, Japan standout, former world champions, world class talents and unbelievable athleticism are all words that can describe the likes of Rollins and Balor. The fans have latched on to both of these individuals and that, combined with everything else they bring to the table makes it a big time ‘Mania match.

The Miz can play his role perfectly and win this way. Rollins and Balor are going to bring a lot to this match while Miz plays a role of a guy who picks and chooses his times to insert himself. The Miz, of course will be disposed of at different points throughout but will ultimately make his comeback each time. All three guys can look incredibly strong in this match with Miz weaseling his way into a victory.

This is prominent for the Miz as this single win catapults him to another level. It would become the defining win of an Intercontinental legacy that could truly bolster the idea of greatest to ever hold the title. Why you may or may not agree that would just be the fact of the matter. This Wrestle Mania match holds weight and should be the most influential in the career of the Miz.

But he has to win in order for this to even be considered, so lets see what happens.
